Swiss dish: Fondue Cheese recipe

My husband and I went a couple of years ago to visit a friend. We stayed longer so we had lunch with them. They prepared us something special, something we didn’t eat before: fondue dish. They had (I have to admit) a can – a package that only needed to be heated in the microwave. They prepared the bread and a salad and that was it.

One year later, being in Austria, we looked for those magic cans of fondue cheese and we bought some – brought home and eat them at home or with parents. As I was trying to find out more about fondue cheese I saw that the recipe is not so complicated and that one could cook it at home too.

According to Wikipedia Fondue is a Swiss communal dish shared at the table in an earthenware pot (caquelon) over a small burner (rechaud). The word is drawn from the French verb fondre (to melt) in the past participle fondu (melted). It most likely originated in the Jura mountains.

Looking on YouTube I found two videos explaining how one could make it’s own home made fondue. So if you want to impress your family or friends, try this idea: Fondue cheese!
