Grand Sirenis Resort, Chichen Itza Part 1
If you want to see the Mayan pyramid, then you are definitely thinking of Chichen Itza. A vacation there will relax you and offer you, at the same time, the opportunity to visit something belonging to the Mayans: their famous pyramid. But your travel will be a delightful one for you, as the Grad Sirenis Mayan Resort has all the modern comfort you want, as our friend Dan Mitea told us (he also provided us with the photos and info).
I’m inviting you to a 3 part journey to Yucatan, Mexico. The first part – this article – is dedicated to the Grad Sirenis Mayan Resort. The second article will bring you information and photos of the Chichen Itza pyramid, while the last article in the series will present you the “cenota”. Thank you Dan for your help!
So, let’s start our journey with the resort you’ll choose for your travel. Grad Sirenis is basically a town that can hosts more than 10 000 tourists at a time. It has everything you need – I mentioned earlier that you will benefit of all the modern comfort – and belongs to Spain. The area is in fact huge, and the building are only a small fraction.
Grad Sirenis dates back 40 years, but is in fact very modern. The hotels have five stars. There are Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya and Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach. They provide the same conditions, the only difference is the by which side of the resort you wish to stay.
The American consul in Mexico bought in 1902 bought all the land where the pyramid was found. He was also a manufacturer of excavators (see the first photo). He did a complex restoration and then donated the property to Mexico. That’s something rare, wouldn’t you say?
As usual, click on the photos for a larger view. And enjoy 😉
