Lachine Canal (Canal de Lachine) – Quebec, Canada
An island, an accessible park – an escape!
Back in time, “The European explorers dreamt of finding a route from New France to the Western Sea and there on to China and hence auspiciously the region where the canal was built was named Lachine.” (source)
So this is a “canal passing through the southwestern part of the Island of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, running 14.5 kilometres from the Old Port of Montreal to Lake Saint-Louis, through the boroughs of Lachine, Lasalle and Sud-Ouest.”.
But it’s not only that, for one can enjoy a good walk – bike, on foot etc. –, breathe fresh air, take a break from the city. Actually, many bikers really appreciate it! One can use a boat too in this park!
I’m able to show you how this canal looks and why do I say it’s a good place to take a walk through the photos sent by our friend Dan Mitea.
