Dubai to Offer Gold to Citizens who Lose Weight

Yes, that’s right. In its efforts to fight obesity, Dubai launches an interesting campaign that will reward the citizens who lose weight. The citizens who lose at least 2 kg (4.4 lbs) within 30 days will receive 2 grams of solid gold, according to Emirates 24/7.

This new campaign is launched under the slogan ‘Your Weight in Gold’ and aims to promote a healthy lifestyle.

“It is aimed at introducing walking tracks in different parks in Dubai. Walking is as an easy and economic way to stay fit and healthy that people can easily apply to their day-to-day life. Dubai Municipality has provided residents with safe and accessible walking tracks,” said Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality.

“Currently Dubai has 91 places to practice sporting activities, including residential parks, public parks, squares, jogging tracks and beaches. In addition, every year the civic body opens new parks in more areas and adds sports equipment and tools for the public to promote a healthy community,” he said.

Let’s not forget that it is Ramadan now, and it seems that this period was carefully chosen by the municipality as it is a moment when people think about their lifestyle and the benefits of losing weight are part of a healthy life.

This campaign is actually a contest and everyone who loses at least 2 kg. enters. The winner will be the person who loses the most kilograms during the 30 days.
The top three winners will get a gold coin equivalent to Dh20,000 through a lucky draw.

The contest begins today, July 19 and all those interested to participate should sign up at local parks as they will have their weight checked once entering the contest and once again at the end of the 30 days period.
