Chill out in Ibiza at Playa Es Figueral

If you’re planning a family or couple’s holiday to Ibiza this year and don’t want to be smack bang in the middle of clubbing capitals San Antonio or Ibiza Town, Playa Es Figueral is a great little resort to stay at, and in particular Santa Eulària des Riu.

Playa Es Figueral is the second most populated municipality on the island and has loads on offer for holidaymakers, including shopping, beaches and some excellent markets to check out.  Three other towns make up the municipality: Sant Carles, Santa Gertrudis and Jesús, all of which have the same peaceful feel and feature traditional churches which are worth seeing during your stay.

The town of Santa Eulària sits just over nine miles from Ibiza town and is thirteen and a half miles from Ibiza Airport next to a wide bay. Whether you choose to stay in Santa Eulària itself or somewhere else within the area of Playa Es Figueral, there is plenty of family-friendly accommodation and accommodation ideal for couples to choose from. The Invisa Figueral Resort is a recommended choice for either families or couples staying in this area.

If shopping is your thing, check out the hippy markets in Es Cañar every Wednesday from April to October and in Las Dalias every Saturday throughout the year. Both markets are busy and bustling, attracting big numbers of visitors hunting for bargains and soaking up the atmosphere. There’s also a night market in Las Dalias which is open every Monday and Tuesday from June until September. There is also another popular market located in Sant Carles.

When you visit Santa Eulària, you can’t fail to notice es Puig de Missa, a historical monument made up of a fortified church, cemetery and whitewashed houses. Even if you have only a passing interest in history it’s worth having a little look.

You can relax on the beach in Santa Eulària des Riu before strolling along the promenade to the marina or checking out some of the lovely little coves that dot the resort. There are two beaches which are well-kept, clean and very family-friendly.

For a particularly peaceful and beautiful spot by the sea, try Cala Mastella or Pou d’es Lleó. Or if you fancy a spot of golf, visit the town’s course on the road to Carla Llonga beach. The marina at Port Esportiu is the perfect place to stop for lunch at one of the many decent restaurants to choose from or a drink at one of the bars.
