Hipmunk Hotels: Budget-Friendly Accommodations in Birmingham, Fredericksburg, and more
One of the wonderful things about the USA is that it offers any traveler the chance to discover different customs and to admire amazing landscapes countrywide. When choosing an area of the country, don’t settle on a single city. Visit more cities to get a better understanding of that region and take in consideration both big and smaller cities. Listed below are five of the Southern gems, with some of their attractions and budget-friendly accommodations to help you save money and make the most of your trip here.
Charlotte, North Carolina
The largest city in the state of North Carolina, Charlotte is an important business and financial hub, but also a great destination to discover, with attractions that address many preferences. It is located close to the Blue Ridge Mountains, and it is home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Carolinas Aviation Museum, Billy Graham Library, and Freedom Park, to name a few. You’ll also easily find affordable hotels in Charlotte. The Charlotte Marriott City Center, Omni Charlotte Hotel, and Hyatt House are just a few of the available options.

Chattanooga, Tennessee
Chattanooga is one of the South’s top travel destinations. Located along the Tennessee River, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Chattanooga offers many hiking, kayaking, and climbing opportunities, and features several important attractions such as the Tennessee Aquarium, Creative Discovery Museum, and the Hunter Museum of American Art. The Wingate by Wyndham Cleveland or motels like the Econo Lodge are some of the most budget-friendly accommodations in Chattanooga.

Fredericksburg, Texas
Home to the National Museum of the Pacific War and located close to the Wildseed Farms and to the impressive Enchanted Rock, Fredericksburg is a great destination if you want something less crowded with interesting historic ties. Choose the Econo Lodge Fredericksburg hotel or the Peach Tree Inn and Suites, both great affordable accommodations in Fredericksburg. Don’t forget that this small town is the home of the Texas German (the dialect spoken by the first settlers, Germans who didn’t want to learn English at first.)
College Park, Georgia
College Park is a quiet city, yet famous for being home to world’s busiest airport: the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. As it is just minutes away from Atlanta, College Park offers the calm of a smaller city – and the beauty of the historic buildings, but also the possibility of visiting the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC) and all the other famous sites of Atlanta. Some of the cheap hotels in College Park are Microtel Inn or Super 8.
Birmingham, Alabama
If you want a taste of Southern hospitality, then you must visit Birmingham, Alabama. And, no matter what you fancy, you’ll find something special here: from the many museums dedicated to art, heritage, history, and science to the Alabama Splash Adventure (located just west of the city), and from the Ruffner Mountain to the 122-acre Birmingham Zoo. There are several budget-friendly hotels in Birmingham such as the Hampton Inn Birmingham, Comfort Inn & Suites, and the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport.
