Palace of Parliament made of small Lego bricks – and a local touch

My son started to enjoy building things made of Lego bricks – yes, the whole Lego madness is here. He received as a Christmas present a Lego box with many pieces but, of course, while looking for some building instructions on-line, we discovered numerous models and, for some, we need several pieces. As we don’t want to buy all the Lego sets possible, we thought of buying some bricks separately. And, when we arrived at the store, we saw an interesting “painting” of the Palace of Parliament (People’s House) in Bucharest made of small Lego bricks. Just as a side note for those that don’t know much about this building, the People’s House – or Palace of Parliament – is the largest civil building in the world and the second largest one after the Pentagon. It was built during Ceausescu’s regime and it involved many sacrifices.

The result is interesting. The effect is that of a mosaic and the “painting” is to be admired from distance.

I saw other “paintings” made of Lego bricks in the past. What made this special is the fact that it focuses on one of Bucharest’s landmarks. Plus, as you can see in the right part of the painting (as you look at it) there are three Lego characters dressed in traditional Romanian costumes (with traditional colors and models). I admit I loved this idea and found it to be a nice local touch.

Lego is, of course, a company famous worldwide so it is natural to have these small… marketing tricks up their sleeves. But it’s nice to notice some made especially for your country. As for how famous the company is, just remember the articles at the beginning of 2016 regarding the stock prices and how Lego proved to be a better investment option even than gold.

But enough said, back to the Lego painting.

Do you like it?

Do you like to build things of Lego bricks? Do you invent models?

Would you create a painting made of Lego bricks? What would it represent?
