Aqua Terra Zoo in Vienna – Haus des Meeres

I liked the Aqua Terra Zoo in Vienna – „Haus des Meeres” – for many reasons. I liked the building and its history, I liked the view of the city from atop, and, of course, I liked the species I saw there.

Haus des Meeres is a vivarium hosted in a former flak tower and home to the first saltwater aquarium in Austria. You can see here numerous fish species, monkeys, crocodiles, ants, snakes, turtles, birds and more. Actually, Andrei told you many interesting things on Haus des Meeres a while ago.

As I was looking today through my photos, I realized that there are still many photos we didn’t show you, so I decided to repair this.

I hope you like these photos and they’ll convince you to visit Aqua Terra Zoo – “Haus des Meeres “ – next time you’ll be in Vienna.

My daughter just loves visiting the zoo and if we’re ever in that part of the world, and close by, we’ll be sure to visit. I really love that very first turtle photo.

The best experience for me in an aquarium was to see a giant octopus up close and not just seeing it but it came out from its hiding cave towards me at the tank while it remained hidden for a long time when other people were in front of the tank. Then again, I guess it was very interested in the red recording lamp of my video camera. Nevertheless, it was priceless moment.

Exotic animals they seem to be! Hope future generations will be fortunate enough to see them as well. Hope we take care of them.

This zoo looks absolutely amazing, I loved your pictures! Unfortunately my trip to Vienna was very short, and I only got to she Schonbrunn and its zoo, which I’d venture is not as big or impressive as this one. I would love to see it next time and absolutely am dying for the rooftop view!

Who knew that there would be such a place like this in Vienna! It’s really nice. I love going to museums and learning about history, and I love going to aquariums just as much! This is really wonderful, and what’s great is that there are so many things to see here, it’s especially perfect when you have the whole family with you! Thank you for sharing more photos from your adventure here!

The turtle, the sea horse, and other marine life are just exquisite. That is why I love to snorkel and marvel at the beautiful underwater life in our country. Seeing them up close is just a wonderful experience.

The turtles are so cute! My family and I enjoyed tour of a turtle sanctuary while we were in USA. It’s good to have such attractions that educates children and families about nature conservation and how saving animals can be a part of our lifestyle choices.

I have not been to a zoo or aquarium in Europe. There are so many cultural and historical sites to see, such that a zoo is not a priority anymore. I should do that one other time though, especially when I get a repeat visit to a European city.

The photo of the seahorse peeking out of it’s home is such a gem! It shows how sea creatures are also cautious in a controlled environment

Omg a seahorse too?! I’ve still yet to see one! But hopefully I encounter them in their natural habitat. That means I need to learn how to dive.

SO many pretty things to see. I had a sea horse come up with me (on my hair) when I was swimming once. 🙂

My gosh! I am a big fan of animals. This zoo is amazing. To be honest I have never seen such a vibrant looking turtle like the one in the first picture. It looked really cute and the rest of the animals are amazing to look at as well. Thank you for this post <3
