Corvin Castle: The Chapel – information and photos

One of the Gothic jewels in Romania, Corvin Castle from Hunedoara, has a „built in” chapel. This was built in the late Gothic style and has one nave and a small aertex. At first it was a Catholic chapel, with Saint John the Baptist as the patron saint, but in the 17th century it was transformed in a reformat chapel. More details in the last photo with the explanation in English provided at the castle.

As the castle is undergoing significant restoration works, everything is simple at this castle. Keep in mind that it was not a castle for luxury and peaceful times, but a true fortress and yes, you can see the places used to defend it and the nearby village. But more about the castle in another post, right now I’m letting you with some photos from the small chapel. The stained glass has a beautiful design – as you can see below.
